The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) is sounding the alarm over India's continued use of the UAPA anti-terror law to target and detain religious minorities. While welcoming the recent bail of British-Sikh activist Jagtar Singh Johal, the USCIRF is urging the U.S. State Department to advocate for other detained activists like Umar Khalid and has renewed its recommendation to designate India as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).
