India: New Telecom policy allows snooping, but claims to ‘respect’ privacy

India's Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad recently said that the Government is working on a new regulatory framework that will intercept, monitor and track phone calls and messages while respecting the privacy of its users.

Two Sikh pilgrims reportedly died while returning from Sri Hemkunt Sahib yesterday when their motorcycle was hit by an unknown vehicle on Rishikesh-Badrinath highway in Tehri district.

Punjab BJP pretends to be upset over jail transfers of Sikh political prisoners

The Punjab state unit of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) pretends to be upset at the transfer of Sikh political prisoners lodged in jails of other states to Punjab. Notably two Sikh political prisoners, namely Prof. Devender Pal Singh Bhullar and Gurdeep Singh Khera have been recently transferred to Central Jail Amritsar from Tihar jail Delhi and Gurberga Jail Karnataka respectively.
