It’s Diwali, but Sikhs in Ahmedabad to mourn victims of November 1984 Sikh genocide

Ahmedabad, India (November 2, 2013): According to a news reportedly by Daily News and Analysis (DNA): while the entire city will be celebrating Diwali with great pomp and enthusiasm, the [Sikhs] in the city has planned a 1984shraddhanjali ceremony on November 2. They plan to offer special prayers in the city on Saturday, to mourn the thousands of lives lost in the Sikh genocide in November, 1984”.

Geneva, Switzerland (November 02, 2013): It is learnt that thousands of Sikhs from across the globe rallied on November 01, 2013 at the UN's Geneva base, demanding an international investigation of a deadly wave of genocidal violence against the Sikhs in India in 1984. Sikh activists have strongly asserted that the killings 29 years ago were state-sponsored genocide, while India blames them as mere “riots”.
