USCIRF Calls for Targeted Sanctions on India’s RAW—Will It Happen? Exclusive Analysis

In its latest report, the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has raised concerns over the worsening state of religious freedom and the growing persecution of minorities in India. The report specifically highlights the Indian government’s transnational repression of the Sikh diaspora, particularly in the United States and Canada.

Citing the targeting of Sikh activists in these countries, USCIRF has recommended targeted sanctions against India’s intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), as well as its former official Vikash Yadav, who has been indicted in a New York court for conspiring to assassinate a Sikh lawyer and activist in the U.S. Additionally, the commission has recommended designating India as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).

Journalist Mandeep Singh speaks with Sikh Siyasat editor Parmjeet Singh Gazi to analyze USCIRF’s findings and its recommendations on India.
