ZIRA, PUNJAB — Addressing a massive gathering at the Chardi Kala rally in Zira, Misl Satluj President Ajay Pal Singh Brar asserted that sustainable economic progress is the fundamental key to resolving Punjab’s most pressing challenges.
Identifying a range of critical issues—including rising unemployment, an ongoing agricultural crisis, industrial stagnation, the growing menace of drug abuse, and the mass migration of youth abroad—Brar emphasized that restoring prosperity requires a multi-pronged economic approach. He advocated for a surge in state investment, robust industrial development, and the establishment of new agro-processing units. Such initiatives, he noted, are vital for generating local employment and retaining the state’s youth by offering promising career prospects at home.

During his address, Brar strongly criticized the recent entry tax imposed by Himachal Pradesh on vehicles originating from Punjab. Calling the levy “unjustified,” he pointed out that Punjabi transporters and travelers are already burdened by toll taxes on major highways. He urged the Punjab Government to formulate policies that safeguard the state’s economic interests, proposing a reciprocal tax on commercial vehicles from outside the state that utilize Punjab’s roads and infrastructure.
Brar also unveiled plans for 17 upcoming Chardi Kala rallies scheduled across Punjab over the next two months. These events aim to shift the political discourse away from mere rhetoric, bringing real, people-centric issues directly to the public and policymakers to demand greater accountability.
The rally concluded with the appointment of Davinder Singh Sekhon as the Misl Satluj Constituency In-charge for Zira. Accepting the responsibility, Sekhon pledged his sincere dedication to serving the organization and the people of Punjab.
