Kartarpur Sahib/Dera Baba Nank: The historic Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, one of the most revered Sikh shrines, has been severely affected by floods after large volumes of water were released into the Ravi river from East Punjab. The shrine marks the site where Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru, spent the last years of his worldly life.
Visuals accessed by Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) show the entire Kartarpur Sahib complex submerged, with floodwaters entering the sanctum of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. Sources in direct contact with those present at the site confirmed that the whole complex is waterlogged. Inside the Darbar Sahib, nearly four steps of the staircase have been submerged, with two to three feet of water standing across the premises. The area is filled with stagnant water, not the direct flow of the river, but there are fears the situation may worsen as the level has shown no signs of receding.

The mazar outside the Darbar Sahib has been completely submerged, while the samadh on the ground floor of the main shrine is also under water. The sacred Saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the sevadars remain safe on the first floor of the Darbar Sahib. Pakistani authorities are making arrangements, including the use of helicopters and vehicles, to evacuate sevadars if the situation worsens.
Floodwaters have also entered nearby villages after breaching the Kartarpur Sahib–Narowal road, disrupting life in the surrounding areas.
The Kartarpur Corridor — inaugurated in 2019 during the 550th Parkash Gurpurab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji to connect Dera Baba Nanak in East Punjab with Kartarpur Sahib in West Punjab — has remained closed since April 22, 2025, when Indian authorities suspended cross-border movement following the Pehalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
