Punjab Research Group convenes meeting on events of 1984 at Wolfson College, University of Oxford

London, UK (October 24, 2014): It is learnt that a meeting of Punjab Research Group with specific focus on the events of 1984 and beyond will take place at Wolfson College, University of Oxford on 25 October, 2014. Pritam Singh, Iftikhar Malik and Kaveri Qureshi are convening the meeting.

Muslims to support demonstration seeking justice for victims of Sikh genocide 1984

New Delhi, India: Several Muslim organizations are likely to attend the annual protest demonstration here in the National Capital next week seeking justice for the victims of the November 1984 Sikh Massacres. The event is being organized by civil rights group Lok Raj Sangathan on 1st Nov to commemorate 30th anniversary of the massacres in which thousands of Sikhs were killed in Delhi and other parts of the country in November 1984.

Chhattisgarh, India: Indian paramilitary force, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPC) has decided to screen Bollywood Movies for tribal people in areas under Naxalite/ Maoist influence. Reaching out to tribals in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, CRPF has launched screening Hindi movies in Indian state's efforts to being people from the remote backward region to the (so-called) mainstream of India.

Contemporary Sikh politics is passing through a phase of severe stagnation. Many Sikh political parties – (so-called) mainstream political parties and panthic political parties are there but they are not able to reflect Sikh ethos in their activism.
