Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa tenders list of 7 Sikh political prisoners at Akal Takht

Amritsar, Punjab: Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa who has been demanding release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in Indian Jails despite serving the minimum mandatory terms of their sentences today said that he has handed over a list of 7 Sikh prisoners at Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat in Amritsar. Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa said that Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh had called him to provide the list of concerned Sikh prisoners.

The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has attained clear majority in Haryana assembly. BJP secured 47 seats in 90 member state assembly. Two times ruling Congress party was able to secure 15 seats and lasted at third place. Indian National Lok Dal (INDL) secured 19 seats while it’s ally Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) also bagged 1 seat. Haryana Janhit Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party bagged 2 and 1 seats respectivly, while independent candidates won from 5 seats.

Harayna Results: Badal Dal candidate from Ambala lasted at fourth place

Ambala, Haryana: Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) joint candidate Balvinder Singh lasted at fourth place from Ambala City assembly seat. BJP candidate Aseem Goel won Ambala City seat with 60216 votes. Haryana Jan Chetna Party (V) candidate Venod Sharma positioned second with 35964 votes. Badal Dal candidate Balvinder Singh secured 22783 votes for fourth place.

Maharashtra Results: NOTA positioned third in Gadchiroli constituency

Maharashtra, India: The NOTA (None of the Above) option received the third highest number of votes in Gadchiroli constituency during the Assembly election in Maharashtra. The area of Gadchiroli constituency is considered to be under influence of naxalite/ maoist movement.

Edmonton/ Calgary: In the midst of the Canadian Sikh community lived a man who was responsible for the torture of thousands of Sikhs and the deaths of hundreds of Sikhs at a conservative estimate. His Name is Gurmail Bai (Gurmail Grewal). He recently died living easy life here in Canada. (Calgary/Edmonton). He was a regular caller at various radio station in Alberta where he presented himself as just and honest police officer. He would further proclaim his sympathy for various victim families and blamed all state atrocities on few bad apples in Punjab police. Which could not be furthest from truth.

Shiv Sena leader shot dead in Pune, Reason unknown yet

Pune, Maharashtra: A Shiv Sena party leader was shot dead in Pimpri Chinchwad area in Pune on Saturday (Oct. 18) night. According to the police, around 9 p.m. Some unidentified persons barged inside Raju Darshale's office in Punewale Jambhe Road and opened fired at him. Three bullets were fired at him of which one hit him on his head. He was rushed to Birla Hospital and was declared dead on admission.

Haryana Results: Badal Dal candidate Balkaur Singh wins Kalanwali seat

Haryana, India: Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) joint candidate Balkaur Singh has won Kalanwali seat in Haryna. Balkaur Singh secured 54112 votes and defeated his nearest rival and Congress candidate Shashipal Keharwala who secured 41,147 votes. BJP candidate Rajender Singh Desujodha positioned third with 17005 votes.

BJP bags Haryana; Largest in Maharashtra but will have to woo Shiv Sena

Haryana/ Maharashtra: The counting of votes in Haryana and Maharashtra are underway and trends show that Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is likely to gain clear majority in Haryana. In Maharashtra the ruling party of India is emerging as the largest party but it is likely to fall short of majority there.

Anna Hazara writes to Narendra Modi on Black-money issue, threatens to launch agitation

New Delhi, India: Anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare has reportedly written a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi threatening to launch an agitation if the black-money was not brought back to India. Anna Hazare also criticized the BJP government for telling the Supreme Court that all information on black money stashed abroad can't be disclosed.

UNWomen launches HeForShe Campaign in India

New Delhi, India: A press release by UN Women, dated: 17th October 2014 says that the UN body for women is launching the HeForShe campaign in India during the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi ) Rendezvous Festival in which this year’s theme is SHE, a social awareness campaign.
