Delhi court defers order on complaint seeking FIR against Kashmiri leader SAS Geelani till March 4

New Delhi, India (February 19, 2014): As per inforamtion a Delhi court today fixed March 4 for pronouncing its order on a plea seeking lodging of an FIR against Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and three others for purportedly instilling “hatred” among the people of Kashmir and other parts of India.

Sikh Community’s One Billion Rising Initiative Serves 22 Shelters Across Canada

Ottawa (February 17, 2014): On February 14, the World Sikh Organization of Canada joined with Sikh communities across Canada to take part in the One Billion Rising movement by providing care packages, treats and baked goods to over 800 women in 22 women’s shelters in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal. Each package was accompanied by Valentine’s cards prepared by Sikh children and students from local Khalsa schools and gurdwaras.

Delhi court summons Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in Defamation case filed by HS Phoolka

New Delhi, India (February 19, 2014): As per information Congress leader and an accused in cases relating to 1984 Sikh massacre, Jagdish Tytler has been summoned by Patiala House Court in a criminal case of defamation filed by Supreme Court Lawyer Harvinder Singh Phoolka, who recently joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Move seeking transfer of Sumedh Saini – Chief Election officer yet to take call on report of Punjab Govt.

Chandigarh/ Punjab (February 19, 2014): While Punjab chief electoral officer (CEO) VK Singh is still in the process of informing India's Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) VS Sampath on the fate of Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini after the former received a report from the Punjab government favouring his continuation as police chief during the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, former Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh has also joined the issue, accusing Saini of being "a Badal loyalist".

Advocate H. S. Phoolka is well-known for fighting cases of the November 1984 Sikh pogrom victims in various courts for over two decades.
