Elderly Sikh man who was attacked in August, dies in hospital; Cause of death yet to be determined

Coventry (November 7, 2013): It is learnt that an elderly Sikh man named Joginder Singh, 80, from Canley, who was assaulted in the city centre back in August has died in hospital. Joginder Singh was admitted to hospital following a brutal attack in Trinity Street on August 10.

30 prisoners died in 1 year due to poor quality of water in Faridkot jail

Faridkot, Punjab (November 7, 2013): According to media reports the poor quality of drinking water is was main reason behind the death of 30 prisoners in Faridkot Central Jail in the last two years. The news has come during a time when Punjab government is claiming that the state has become first in north India to have installed reverse osmosis (RO) plants at mass level to provide safe drinking water to its population affected by highly contaminated water.

Nepal govt. agrees to facilitate Parkash Gurpurb celebrations in historic Gurdwara at Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Nepal (November 6, 2013): According to media reports the Nepalese Government has agreed to celebrate the Parkash Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Ji at Guru Nanak Math, a more than 400-year-old Gurdwara in Kathmandu, on November 17, 2013. The Nepalese government has agreed to allow pilgrims from all over the world to take part in the Gurpurb celebrations.

Srinagar, Kashmir (November 07, 2013 – Reported by Mir Iqbal): All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee during its interaction with Home Department Committee (on November 06, 2013) said that the Government had failed to book the ‘killers’ involved in Chattisinghpora and Mehjoor Nagar massacres.

Sikh Jatha to leave for Pakistan on 15 Nov. to observe Parkash Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Ji

Amritsar, Punjab (November 7, 2013): According to information released by the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) secretary Dalmegh Singh a Sikh jatha will leave for Pakistan on November 15 to mark the Parkash Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Ji at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib. In a press release, a copy of which is available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), SGPC secretary Dalmegh Singh has said the jatha would be led by SGPC member Randhir Singh Cheema.
