US Court summons to be served on Manmohan Singh in India: Sikhs for Justice

Washington DC, US (October 02, 2013): Following Washington DC’s law on service of summons, plaintiffs “Sikhs for Justice” (SFJ) will now serve Manmohan Singh in India through Hague Convention on the Service Abroad of Judicial and Extra-Judicial Documents. Due to the high security detail, the rights group could not serve outstanding US Federal Court summons on Prime Minister during Obama-Singh meeting at White House.

SGPC condemns targeting of Sikh truck driver by US police and law authorities

Amritsar, Punjab (October 02, 2013): It is learnt that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Monday (Oct. 01) condemned the US police and law authorities for targeting a Sikh truck driver in America requested the Indian government to take up the matter at the diplomatic level with the US government.

After 30 years of 1984 Sikh genocide – SCI suspects that accused trying to stall trial proceedings

New Delhi, India (October 02, 2013): It is learnt that the Supreme Court of India (SCI) on Monday (September 01, 2013) said the accused in the November 1984 Sikh massacres related case, including Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, are trying to stall the proceedings in the trial court by approaching higher courts at every stage. However, while saying so, the court agreed to hear their plea for quashing the charges of murder and rioting in the killing of six persons during the 1984 carnage.

Sikh Coalition creates “Know Your Rights” handout about the New Federal Kirpan Policy in US

New York, US (October 02, 2013): The Sikh Coalition has created a “Know Your Rights” document explaining the US federal government’s new policy allowing for greater accommodation of Sikh kirpans in most federal buildings. The federal government implemented this policy on December 10, 2012, and made it public in February of 2013.
