Ottawa (June 10, 2010) - The World Sikh Organization of Canada recognized NDP leader Jack Layton for his work to advance human rights in Canada and abroad.

Sikhs Genocide (1984): Petition demanding recognition supported by Sikh Diaspora but opposed by Indians

Toronto (June 10, 2010): Two Canadian MPs, including Punjab-born Sukh Dhaliwal, gave a notice to table a petition in the Canada’s parliament Wednesday asking the Canadian government to recognize the 1984 Sikh massacre in India, in which thousands of Sikhs were killed by Indians, as an act of genocide.

Holocaust Day (ghallughara dihara) observed in various Jails in Punjab

Ludhaina (June 10, 2010): Whereas the Punjab Government had prevented Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Panch Pardhani) from holding Holocaust Memorial March to observe Holocaust Day from 1 to 6 June; there are certain reports that party workers and leaders confined in various Jails of Punjab observed the Holocaust Day on 6 June.
