Chandigarh: Sikh Research Institute (SikhRI) hosted an in-person book discussion on its latest publication, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib: Life, Vision & Wisdom, at Randhawa Auditorium, Punjab Kala Bhawan, Chandigarh, on 15 January 2026.
The event brought together scholars, readers, and community members for an evening of reflection on the life, vision, and enduring wisdom of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib—examined not only as history but also as living guidance that continues to inspire courage, leadership, and ethical living in the contemporary world.
The conversation featured Harinder Singh, Senior Fellow at SikhRI and author of the book, in dialogue with Roopinder Singh, one of Panjab’s most respected literary voices and an acclaimed author and journalist known for shaping thoughtful public discourse. The session was hosted by Dr. Jasmine Anand, Assistant Professor of English, translator, and scholar.
Through a rich and engaging discussion, the speakers explored the intellectual, literary, and spiritual textures of the book, inviting the audience to engage with the ideas and resonances that emerge from Guru Gobind Singh Sahib’s life and legacy. The session also included space for dialogue and shared reflection with attendees.
Guru Gobind Singh Sahib: Life, Vision & Wisdom is a landmark work that weaves together literary brilliance, historical insight, visual storytelling, and spiritual depth. Central to the book is Sabad Hajare—ten luminous compositions that reveal the Guru’s timeless vision and boundless compassion. The book opens with a foreword by Dr. Nikky-Guninder Kaur Singh, situating the work within a broader philosophical and poetic frame that honors the Guru’s radical vision and enduring relevance. In keeping with Sikhi, the book carries no portraits of the Guru; the Guru’s image is not rendered on the page but contemplated through wisdom in the mind. Presence is not depicted—it is awakened. Through contemporary translation and commentary, the book draws on the voices of the Guru’s court poets, Bhai Nand Lal Goya and Chandra Sain Sainapati, offering rare and intimate glimpses into the Guru’s divine presence and sovereign leadership.
