Brampton to Host the Sikh Writers Festival to Celebrate Literature and Community

Brampton, CA: They city of Brampton is set to host a significant cultural and literary event as the Sikh Writers Festival takes place from July 10 to 12, 2026. Held at the Brampton Gurdwara Auditorium, located at 99 Glidden Road, this gathering is dedicated to celebrating Sikh writers, bringing their scholarly and creative work into the greater Sikh community, and fostering a meaningful space for authors and the sangat to connect. Supported by organizations including the Suchet Foundation and Sri Guru Nanak Sikh Centre Brampton, the three-day festival promises a rich itinerary of book releases, discussions, and networking opportunities.

The festival’s opening evening on Friday, July 10, commences at 6:00 PM (Brampton time) with a “Sakhi Sangat” session led by Jagdeep Singh Faridkot. Following this traditional storytelling, the evening will feature the official book release of “Mard Agamada” by Amardeep Singh Amar at 7:00 PM. The first day will then conclude with an engaging book discussion at 8:00 PM focused on “Sirf Delhi Nahi,” guided by author of the book Gurjant Singh Bal.

The second day of the festival, July 11, offers a comprehensive afternoon and evening of literary programming beginning at 1:00 PM with the book release of “Kaurnama 3” by Baljinder Singh Kotbhara.

At 2:00 PM, Bibi Gurmeet Kaur will lead a discussion on “Folktales,” which will be followed by a dedicated writer meetup with Amardeep Singh Amar at 3:00 PM.

Bibi Gurmeet Kaur will return to the stage at 4:00 PM to discuss her book “The Valiant.”

As the afternoon transitions to evening, Jagdeep Singh Faridkot will present a Sakhi titled “Sikh Mislaan te Khalsa Raj” at 5:00 PM.

The evening sessions include the release of the book “Punjabi & Gurmukhi” by Dr. Sikandar Singh, head of Punjabi Department at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University (Fatehgarh Sahib) at 7:00 PM, culminating in a poignant book discussion on “Sikh Nasalkushi 1984” featuring Paramjit Singh Gazi and Ranjit Singh at 8:00 PM.

On the final day, July 12, the schedule begins at 1:00 PM with Bibi Simarjit Kaur hosting a book discussion on “Saffron Salvation.”

At 2:00 PM, attendees will have the opportunity to view a screening of the documentary “Alienation,” which will be immediately followed at 3:00 PM by an insightful discussion with the film’s director, Sukhdeep Singh.

The late afternoon will foster further networking and collaboration through consecutive writer meetups, first with Bhai Sikandar Singh at 4:00 PM and then with Jagdeep Singh Faridkot at 5:00 PM. The festival will officially draw to a close at 6:00 PM with a formal closing ceremony and a final opportunity for writers and the community to meet.
