Mohali, Panjab (March 30, 2014): As per information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) 8 Sikhs were acquitted on Wednesday the 26th of March, by Dilbagh Singh Johal, the Additional Sessions Judge of the Mohali District Court. The charges were related to unlawful activities, illegal possession of explosives and firearms.

According to media reports the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday (October 16, 2012) dismissed the Public Interest Litigation filed by the NGO, 'Voice For Freedom', stating that it does not have locus standi to file petition against appointment of Sumedh singh Saini as Punjab DGP.

Chandigarh (August 01, 2012): Punjab Government has produced it's confidential records before the Punjab and Haryana High Court to defend the appointment of human rights abuser and IPS officer Sumedh Singh Saini as Director General of Police (DGP). The government argued that the Sainis has “outstanding” annual confidential reports (ACRs). Moreover, according of the Government, it was the emerging volatile” situation in Punjab — owing to orders being issued to execute the death warrant against Punjab CM Beant Singh’s assassin Balwant Singh Rajoana in March — which compelled the state government to immediately appoint Saini as the DGP.

Chandigarh (July 27, 2012): The hearing of a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking removal of Sumedh Singh Saini as DGP of Punjab continues in Punjab and Haryana High Court. This petition is moved by NGO named Voices for Freedom (VFF). In recent hearing in the court the VFF counsel countered the allegations levelled by the state government against VFF and told the court that CBI had registered a case of murder and abduction against Sumedh Saini.
