Ludhiana: Sikh Youth Power of Punjab has announced its opposition to the upcoming Punjabi movie Akaal. Pardeep Singh Ayali, a prominent leader of the organization, has raised objections to the film’s depiction of “Akaalis” (saint-soldiers in Akaali/Nihang baana).
In a statement, Ayali emphasized that the baana (traditional attire) is a sacred blessing from the Guru and should not be misrepresented in films merely for entertainment purposes. He told cinema owners not to screen the movie and called upon other Sikh organizations to join in opposing its release.

The film Akaal, starring Gippy Grewal, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Nimrat Khaira and other well-known actors from the Punjabi film industry, is scheduled for release on April 10, 2025.
