Since his arrest, Jagtar Singh’s family has consistently maintained that he was falsely charged and imprisoned in India due to his activism, which aimed to raise awareness about the 1984 Sikh genocide and human rights abuses in Punjab through his website, Never Forget 84.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, Jagtar Singh’s defense lawyer, informed Sikh Siyasat News over the phone that the court acquitted Jagtar Singh today, as the prosecution’s allegations were proven to be baseless during the trial.

However, the acquittal in this case will not lead to Jagtar Singh’s release at this juncture, as other cases against him are still pending. His bail plea in those cases is also awaiting consideration.

Further details were awaited at the time of writing this report.
