RSS leader’s Killing in Ludhiana: Police says motorcycle recovered from bushes

Ludhiana: As per media reports the Ludhiana police on Wednesday (Oct. 18) recovered a bike supposedly used by unidentified gunmen who shot dead RSS leader Ravinder Gosain at his residence on Tuesday (Oct. 17).

The bike, a yellow CBR Stunner, was recovered from the Ludhiana-Jalandhar National Highway. The motorcycle was reportedly stolen and the police had not registered the FIR despite the complaint filed by the owner reporting the theft.

Confirming the development, Ludhiana police commissioner R N Dhoke reportedly said: “We have now registered an FIR in the bike theft case. We will now see why Miller Ganj chowki incharge did not forward the complaint to the police station concerned for FIR registration. If found at fault, action will be taken against him”.

While the registration number of the bike was unclear in the CCTV footage procured by the police on Tuesday, the number came out as PB10 CU 7223 on Wednesday. The police traced the owner as one Krishan Kumar of village Phullanwal in Ludhiana.

The Commissioner said Krishan Kumar, when questioned by the police, claimed he had sold the bike months ago.

The bike was spotted by a passer-by who informed the police. It was found on a location around 12 kilometers from the murder spot, notes The Indian Express.

The Aam Adami Party’s leader of opposition in Punjab Assembly Sukhpal Singh Khaira and Congress MP Ravneet Bittu here on Wednesday reportedly visited the house of the RSS leader Ravinder Gosain, who was shot dead in Ludhiana on Tuesday.

Ravneet Bittu in his statement alleged that Canada- and Pakistan-based ‘pro-freedom’ elements were behind the recent killings of ‘Pro-Hindutva’ leaders and those from other faiths.

“The Punjab Police and the state government are aware of a Canada-based person, who wants to create communal tension in the state. He has been funding sleeper cells to orchestrate such killings,” claimed Ravneet Bittu.

Whereas, Sukhpal Singh Khair while interacting with the media maintained that law and order had collapsed in the state. “The situation was the same during the Akali-BJP rule as well,” he adds, notes The Tribune (TT).
