UK Sikh Becomes President of Students’ Union in London University

London, United Kingdom (May 02, 2014): According to media reports a Ludhiana born Sikh youth, Amarbir Singh Gill, has been selected as President of the Students’ Union of Royal Holloway University of London. Nearly 9,000 students study in the university of which only 5 students belong to the Sikh community.

Brampton (April 30, 2014): The World Sikh Organization of Canada congratulates the Sikh community of Ontario upon the conclusion of the first Sikh Heritage Month in the province. April 2014 marked the first time the month was celebrated in Ontario after the passing of Bill 52 the Sikh Heritage Month Act.

Punjab High Court says no to anticipatory bail for Shashi Kant who alleged fear of arrest in “created case”

Chandigarh/ Punjab (May 02, 2014): It is learnt that the Punjab and Haryana High Court did not find any merit in former DGP (Prisons) Shashi Kant's petition seeking anticipatory bail. According to media reports Shashi Kant’s petition, seeking blanket anticipatory bail in any criminal case to be registered against him in the state, failed to find favour with the Punjab and Haryana High Court on May 01.
