Various sections of Sikhs have condemned Paswan for his controversial statement.
Seconding the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha, Ram Vilas Paswan of the LJP said Prime Minister Narendra Modi
has given a vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’, and for that the people of the country need to move on.
In the past, incidents like Emergency, 1984-Sikh violance, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarnagar “riots” had taken place and the people had forgotten them, said Paswan who asked why the Godhra riot could not be forgotten.
Twelve years have passed since the Godhra riots had taken place. How long people of the country would recall that, he asked.
While lashing out at Paswan on the issue of forgetting of Sikh genocide November 1984, Panch Pardhani leader Harpal Singh Chima said,
“There is no question of forgetting of 1984. The wounds given by Hindu nation are still simmering and no justice have been delivered. Not
even Hindu government regretted over the issue but they are adding salt to our wounds”.
“None of these crimes are forgettable, be it November 1984 Sikh carnage or other incidents of persecution of minorities that were enumerated by Paswan” he added.
