Ludhiana, Punjab: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Ludhiana today staged a protest against the proposed plan to axe 600 trees to make way for a Test Centre Track at SCD Government College Ludhiana.
AAP district Convener Ahbaab Singh Grewal slammed the move saying that as it is the city that faces high level of pollution and the move to cut over 600 trees will severely harm the environment. The government could have easily earmarked another location for the purpose rather than choose this prime location in order to grab more public land under the garb of providing test tracks. Going by the track record of SAD/BJP Government this location will eventually be turned over to private players for commercial use. AAP demands that this project be shifted to another location, which does not involve destroying the city’s already meager Green Belt.

The protest was held under the banner of Clean and Green Ludhiana Project of AAP headed by Col. CM Lakhanpal.
