Simranjit Kaur is a UK-based Sikh author and human rights activist. In 1999, she began visiting Punjab to reach out to and assist families who were targeted by state oppression during the Sikh struggle. Under this initiative, medical assistance was provided for the health issues of mothers and the elderly, alongside other appropriate forms of support.
Simranjit Kaur has written three novels, two of which focus on the Sikh struggle. Her first book, “Saffron Salvation,” was based on characters from the struggle. Her second book, “Anokh Singh,” is a work of fiction inspired by the life of Bhai Anokh Singh Ji. Her third novel, “Harbir Singh,” was released recently. This novel addresses crimes against children and was written following the murder of an innocent five-year-old boy, Harbir Singh, by a migrant with a criminal mindset in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab a few years ago.
Simranjit Kaur is doing significant work in coordination with human rights organizations. This includes spearheading an initiative to hold a panel discussion on the 1984 Sikh Genocide at the biennial meeting of the International Association of Genocide Scholars.
She is also providing humanitarian aid in Ukraine amidst the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
