The issue of Sikh political prisoners, especially the issue of permanent release of those Sikh political prisoners who have completed their mandatory jail terms, is once again in focus. Punjab government and various newspapers/media are maintaining that there were no Sikh prisoners in Indian jails who could be granted permanent release, especially in wake 2014 Supreme Court of India (SCI) stay on granting remissions to life term convicts.
