Delhi police releases Sikh activists after short detention; Denies permission to hold hunger strike in New Delhi

Delhi police has released three Sikh activists, who were detained today after they had started hunger strike at Jantar mantar seeking release of Sikh political prisoners. It is notable that after Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa’s family volunteered for his hospitalization in Ambala on January 09, the Haryana police and management committee of Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib asked Gurbkash Singh Khalsa’s associates to leave premises.

The Dal Khalsa has stated that the decision of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) refusing to clear the film Messenger of God is a right and bold step and we welcome it hoping that revising panel too would take the similar step.

Sikh activists who had shifted their hunger strike to Jantar Mantar today were reportedly arrested by the Delhi police in the evening. In an update Gurpreet Singh Guri Hans said that he along with Bagicha Singh Waraich and Gurpiar Singh were called by Delhi police at a police station near Indian parliament.

India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has refused to clear controversial movie “Messenger of God - MSG” by a controversial Sirsa based godman who is facing criminal charges in CBI courts. The CBFC has objected to the portrayal of the protagonist as ‘the God’ in the film and thus has refused to clear the film.

After continuing hospitalization of Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa by Ambala administration on January 09, the Haryana police reportedly pressurized Sikh activists to shift the base of their hunger strike out of Hayrana state. Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa’s family had volunteered hospitalization after he developed breathing problem on January 09. He was on hunger strike since November 14, 2014.

Hospitalized Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa’s condition stable, says doctors

Doctors of Civil Hospital, Ambala yesterday told media that the condition of Sikh activist Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa was stable. He was reprotedly hospitalized by the civil administration of Ambala on January 09 after Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa developed breathing problems on 57th day of his indefinite hunger strike.

Dal Khalsa has revealed that on the orders of the SAD president Sukhbir Badal, the SGPC is all set to remove Takht Damdama Sahib jathedar Gaini Balwant Singh Nanadgarh from the august post at its executive meeting scheduled for Jan 17. The organization also revealed that to oust Jathedar, a signature campaign amongst SGPC executive members was underway.

Whereas the state government has launched ad-blitzkrieg on the issue of Sikh detainees in jails saying that ‘life imprisonment means imprisonment for entire life and the Sikh political prisoners convicted for imprisonment for life could not be prematurely release, Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur has asked the state government to explain that how some of the cops who were sentenced to imprisonment for life or for less duration, were released much before even completion of their jail terms.
