New Delhi, India: Delhi police's move to present Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara being handcuffed and chained in a Delhi court has triggered outrage from various Sikh bodies. Jagtar Singh Hawara is undergoing imprisonment for life in Delhi's Tihar Jail. He was reportedly presented in a Delhi court today in relation to a case. Photos of Jagtar Singh Hawara that went viral today shows that he was chained by Delhi police while bringing him to the court complex.

New York, USA: Mr. Gurbhej Singh Sandhu, an elderly Sikh gentleman, had his religious freedom violated by the New York City Department of Correction (DOC). Mr.Sandhu visited Rikers Island Correctional Facility on numerous occasions since February 2012 to meet with his son, who was serving a sentence at the facility. Mr.Sandhu was made to remove his turban on every occasion he went to meet his son at Rikers Island, including on November 13, 2013.

St Truiden, Belgium: The Belgian Conseil d’Etat has upheld the freedom of religion of Sikh students by overturning the ban on the Sikh Turban in a GO school, which is part of a large group of schools attended by many Sikh students in the Flemish part of Belgium.

India: Woman reportedly set ablaze for not voting Shiv Sena

Maharashtra, India: A 65-year-old woman was set on fire by three men in Babhulgaon near Yeola, about 85km from Nashik, on Thursday (October 16) night for not voting the candidate of their choice, says media reports. With 80 per cent burns, 65-yr-old battles for life at Nashik hospital.
