Prof. Joga Singh said that Languages in India were not recognized in accordance with linguistic norms, rather the politics played it's part in this matter and many languages were not recognized in their independent form. Such languages were merely declared as sub-forms of Hindi. For example as per linguistic parameters Bhojpuri was an independent language but it was declared as a sub-form of Hindi.

In a letter addressed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu CM J. Jayalaithaa said: "Tamil Nadu has a rich cultural heritage based on the ancient Tamil language. There has also been a strong social justice and language movement in the state. Hence, any official celebration of 'Sanskrit week' in Tamil Nadu is highly inappropriate".

Chandigarh/ Punjab (July 19, 2014): Badal Dal, led by Parkash Singh Badal and his clan, which also controls Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) seems to have decided to go for physical clash with the HSGPC, a newly formed body for managing affairs of Gurdwaras in Haryana.

New Delhi, India (July 19, 2014): Continues efforts of Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to pursue BJP led Government of India (GoI) to interfere into HSGPC issue showed some “results” yesterday. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) termed the legislation passed by Haryana assembly as “illegal” and “unconstitutional”.
