Amit Shah declared new president of BJP; Shah was recently exonerated by CBI in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case

India's ruling Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) general secretary Amit Shah has been declared as the new party president on Wednesday (July 09). India's Home minister Rajnath Singh announced in a news conference that he was stepping down as the BJP president and declared Shah as his successor.

UK: Campaign begins to oppose Gandhi Statue in Parliament Square

London, United Kingdom (July 09, 2014): Upon hearing the announcement in India that a statue of Mahatma Gandhi is to be constructed and erected in Parliament Square next year the Sikh Federation (UK) wrote to Culture Secretary, Sajid Javid as he is leading the advisory group to support the project.

Bhai Mani Singh Ji, a great Sikh scholar and martyr, was brought up in the early years of his life to the presence of Guru Tegh Bahadur at Anandpur. Bhai Mani Singh Ji holds the honor of being “baal sakhai-mittar” (childhood friend) of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Bhai Mani Singh Ji took Amrit after the Baisakhi of 1699. Soon after that Bhai Mani Singh Ji was entrusted with the Sewa of Harmandar Sahib, Amritsar by Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
