Delhi Govt. refers the Prof. Bhullar’s case to Indian Home Ministry to take decision on execution

New Delhi, India (June 19, 2013): It is learnt that Lt. Governor of Delhi has deferred the execution of Prof. Bhullar and the Delhi government has decided to refer to Indian Home Ministry a decision on the execution of Professor Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar following a medical board report regarding Prof. Bhullar's health conditions.

Dal Khalsa urges Home Secretary to release of 95-year-old ailing Assa Singh on parole

Hoshiarpur, Punjab (June 19, 2013): Dal Khalsa has asked the Home Secretary, Punjab to order the release of 95-year-old prisoner Assa Singh on parole as his condition is reported to be very serious.

94 years old Sikh inmate, Bapu Assa Singh, reportedly hospitalized after being attacked by Jail inmates

Hosiarpur, Punjab (June 19, 2013): It is learnt that a 94-year-old Sikh inmate, Bapu Assa Singh, was hospitalized as he was reportedly attacked on June 18, 2013 by few prisoners in a Hoshiarpur jail. Bapu Assa Singh was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by a TADA court (Ludhiana) on November 20, 2012 in a 1989 case.

Execution of Prof. DPS Bhullar deferred by L-G of Delhi; Decision does not remove Prof. Bhullar from death row permanently

New Delhi, India (June 19, 2013): It is learnt that citing the "bad physical and mental health'' of Sikh political prisoner Prof. Devinderpal Singh Bhullar, the office of the Delhi Lt. Governor of Delhi have deferred his execution. According to a news reported by Indian Express (IE): "[t]his decision, a source said, was taken after scrutiny of the report submitted by the medical board formed by the Delhi government to ascertain Bhullar's condition.
