Bibi Jagir Kaur and Parkash Singh Badal to face land grabbing inquiry

Kapurthala/Chandigarh (August 29, 2011): With less than a month to go in general elections of Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC), the former SGPC cheif Bibi Jagir Kaur along with Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal are in news for illegal land grabing. Punjab Lokpal, Justice (Retd) D S Dhaliwal, today ordered an inquiry into complaint on "illegal occupation" of prime government land in Kapurthala district by former SGPC chief Jagir Kaur at the alleged behest of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Rajiv Gandhi assassination Case: Tamil Party want center not to carry out proposed execution

Tamil Nadu (August 29, 2011): Tamil Party Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) has favored clemency for 3 Tamil convicts facing immideate threat of execution on 9 September. Trio have been convicted for killing India's Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

"Two Sri Lankans and an Indian national convicted for the assassination of India’s former Prime Minister , Rajiv Gandhi, are facing imminent execution in Vellore prison in Tamil Nadu, India. This follows the rejection of their mercy petitions by the President of India. If carried out, these would be the first executions in India since 2004" says the appeal posted on website of the organization.
