Sangrur/Mastuana Sahib: A special three-day conference will be held at Mastuana Sahib on August 1, 2, and 3 to deliberate on the framework, methodology, and policies for the revival of the Shiromani Akali Dal. The event, dedicated to the centenary of Sant Attar Singh Ji, is being organized by Akal College Council, Mastuana Sahib, with support from various Sikh organizations and personalities. It will be held at Sant Teja Singh Hall, Mastuana Sahib (Sangrur).
The central focus of this conference is to explore the structure and direction that a revived Shiromani Akali Dal should adopt. Political leaders, religious figures, social activists, journalists, scholars, and grassroots workers are expected to participate and share their views during the deliberations.
In a press conference held at Mastuana Sahib on July 29, the organizing committee sh eparations. The organizers emphasized that over a century has passed since the formation of the Shiromani Akali Dal, during which the party has taken on various roles and forms. While discussions about the party’s revival are ongoing, they pointed out that a thorough introspection into how the Akali Dal reached its current state has been lacking. As a result, efforts toward revival have lacked clear vision and strategy, leading to further division and confusion in the Panthic sphere.
The organizers stressed that mere changes in leadership or faces will not suffice. What is needed is a sincere and in-depth dialogue on what form the Akali Dal should now take and what its policies should be. This conference aims to initiate that dialogue and bring together diverse Panthic and political voices to build a shared consensus. The discussions are also expected to lay the groundwork for future programs addressing other crucial issues concerning Punjab and the Sikh Panth.
