Speaking during a 1986 Sarbat Khasa remembrance event held at Amritsar on 26 January 2026, Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said that after the Gha-ll-u-ghara 84, the Sarbat Khalsa of 1986 provided direction to the Sikhs for the ensuing struggle.

He said that now, when the world order is undergoing significant change, Sikhs need their own decision-making institution to provide guidance for the future.
