In 2014, documentary proofs of the UK’s role in the attack on the Darbar Sahib in Amritsar came to light when secret documents declassified under the UK’s 30-year rule revealed British involvement. In recent years, there have been allegations that Indian intelligence agencies interfered in Sikh affairs in the UK, reported by Sikh diaspora organisations and activists. One organisation, Sikh Federation (UK), has issued multiple statements and published a report titled “Sacrificing Sikhs: The Need for an Investigation”.

Bloomberg recently published a report about India’s activities targeting Sikh activists in the US and Canada. According to the report, British intelligence services provided Canadian authorities with secret intelligence about Indian operations targeting Sikh activists in North America. The Bloomberg report mentions the name of a Sikh activist in the UK whose death under mysterious circumstances has led Sikh organisations and diaspora groups to allege that Indian intelligence agencies were behind his murder.
