The Sikh diaspora in the UK has been established for a long time and remains politically active. They advocate for issues affecting Sikhs, both within the UK and globally, including the Sikh community in East Punjab and India. One of the most significant cases has been that of Jagtar Singh Jaggi Johal, a British citizen who is currently imprisoned in India and facing multiple trials. One of these trials has already resulted in an acquittal by a Special Indian court. Journalist Mandeep Singh spoke with Dabinderjit Singh, a representative of the Sikh Federation UK, to discuss how the Sikh diaspora in the UK has pursued Jaggi Johal’s case and why they believe the British government plays a crucial role in this matter.
