Amritsar: On May 3, 2012, the Executive Committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) passed a historic resolution regarding the remembrance of the events of June 1984. The resolution officially sanctioned the establishment of the June 1984 Shaheedi Yadgaar (memorial), an eternal tribute dedicated to Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and the other Sikh shaheeds (martyrs) who lost their lives during the Indian Army’s June 1984 attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, along with more than 70 other Gurdwaras in Punjab and adjoining states.
