In January 2014, declassified UK government documents released under the 30-year rule confirmed long-held suspicions within the Sikh community: that foreign governments, including the Margaret Thatcher-led British government, were involved in the Indian Army’s June 1984 military assault on Sikh Gurdwaras across Punjab and neighboring states.
