Ottawa, ON: In a press release issued on April 22, 2025, the Sikh Federation (Canada) announced the successful conclusion of its 2025 Federal Election Questionnaire campaign. The grassroots effort, aimed at elevating Sikh community issues, engaged candidates in over 30 key ridings where Sikhs represent a significant voting bloc, achieving a 40% response rate and marking a significant step in Sikh political advocacy.

The press release (copy available with Sikh Siyasat News) highlighted that the campaign received responses from the central campaign teams of the New Democratic Party and the Conservative Party of Canada, select Liberal candidates, and one Independent candidate. For the first time, the Conservative Party clarified its positions on critical Sikh issues, addressing previously ambiguous stances. Respondents unanimously supported combating anti-Sikh hate, increasing transparency on foreign interference, ensuring accountability for crimes linked to foreign governments, and safeguarding Canada’s legal and security systems from misuse against political dissidents.

Bhai Moninder Singh, National Spokesperson for the Sikh Federation (Canada) said: “The engagement we’ve seen from candidates confirms that these are not fringe concerns. The Sikh community is asserting itself with clarity, focus, and long-term vision. We look forward to working with all elected Parliamentarians—regardless of party affiliation—to ensure that these values and objectives are transformed into concrete policies.”

The campaign underscores the Sikh community’s commitment to addressing foreign interference, disinformation, and transnational repression, reinforcing their role in Canada’s democratic process.
