Shaheedi Samagam Held at Gurdwara Sahib Stockton to Commemorate February Martyrs of the Sikh Struggle

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA: According to a joint written statement issued by the Sikh Youth of America and the Sikh Federation of America, a solemn Shaheedi Samagam (martyrdom event) was organized at Gurdwara Sahib Stockton, California. The gathering was held in memory of all the martyrs of the month of February who laid down their lives for the realization of an independent Khalistan. The event witnessed active participation from various Sikh organizations across different cities, alongside the local Sangat who gathered to pay their respects. Following the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, Bhai Balwinder Singh Lopoke recited Gurbani Kirtan. Bhai Gursevak Singh then addressed the Sangat through Katha, sharing the rich history of the Khalsa Raj and the inspiring tales of the martyred warriors.

Speaking at the event, Sikh Federation spokesperson Bhai Gurinderjit Singh Mana, who traveled specially from New Jersey, emotionally recounted the moments he had spent with the warriors. According to the release, while addressing the recent “attacks on activists of organizations striving for the Sikh struggle abroad,” he strongly emphasized “the need to continue the fight for the struggle of our independent nation, Khalistan.”

The samagam also featured poignant personal reflections. The sister of Shaheed Bhai Navneet Singh Kadian shared touching memories of the time spent with her brother during his days operating underground. Additionally, Dr. Pritpal Singh shared his thoughts with the congregation regarding the ongoing efforts for sovereignty and the contributions made to the movement. During the program, the organizing bodies honored the families of several fallen Sikhs, including Shaheed Bhai Navneet Singh Kadian, Shaheed Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Chhindu, Shaheed Bhai Sukhdev Singh Chabba, Shaheed Bhai Jaswinder Singh Judge Johal, and Shaheed Bhai Jaswinder Singh Tinku.

Towards the conclusion of the event, Bhai Mehal Singh (Chandigarh Wale) enthralled the congregation by singing traditional Vaars (heroic ballads) dedicated to the Sikh warriors. The Sikh Youth of America also organized a highly informative exhibition detailing the lives of the martyrs, which the Sangat read with great interest and respect. The stage proceedings were smoothly managed by Bhai Kuljit Singh. Finally, Bhai Jaswinder Singh Jandi delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the Sikh Youth of America and the Sikh Federation of America, expressing gratitude to all the organizations and the Sangat for their attendance.
