Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader and former central minister Balwant Singh Ramoowalia today joined quit his party to join the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. He was inducted as a cabinet minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh.

Ramoowalia was a core committee member of the Badal Dal. He said that he has sent his resignation letter to the SAD (Badal) president Sukhbir Badal.

“Yes, I have left the Akali Dal. I have been sworn as cabinet minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government,” Ramoowalia reportedly told Hindustan Times (HT).

As per information Ramoowalia took oath of his office as minister in Lucknow on Saturday morning.
