Punjab Government Reinvokes NSA Against Amritpal Singh

Chandigarh: The Punjab government has extended the detention of Amritpal Singh, leader of Waris Punjab De and Khadoor Sahib MP, reinvoking the National Security Act (NSA) with a new order issued just days before the earlier detention was set to expire on April 22, 2025.

Amritpal Singh, held in Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam since his arrest in April 2023, will remain in custody for an additional three months, with the possibility of further extensions up to another year based on recommendations from the NSA advisory board.
