Amritsar, Punjab (February 09, 2014): As per information the decision of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) to award the contract for expansion of the building of the Guru Ramdas Langar Hall within the Darbar Sahib complex to a private contractor rather than to Kar Seva has drawn strong criticism from various Sikh circles.

On Saturday (February 09), a seminar was conducted on this issue in the Bhai Gurdas Hall.

However, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Avtar Makkar said “the construction work has begun now, and the objections will be kept in mind the next time”.

According to a news reported by Hindustan Times (HT), Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh also expressed his helplessness on the matter.
