Chandigarh: An important meeting of the five Sikh High Priests was held yesterday at Sri Akal Takht Sahib under the leadership of the Acting Jathedar, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, appointed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). After the meeting, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib addressed a press conference and shared information regarding the Panthic decisions taken.

During the meeting, discussions were also held on AI-generated videos and artificially created films produced using modern technology. Giani Kuldeep Singh stated that depicting the image of the Guru Sahiban or their family members in any film or video is prohibited. He said that this decision has been taken keeping in view Sikh Rehat Maryada and Panthic sensitivity.

S. Malkit Singh, while offering his suggestions, said that although this decision is undoubtedly correct, it has been taken after considerable delay. He stated that the long-established Sikh tradition of taking decisions in accordance with Gurmat should be implemented, and only then should decisions be issued from Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He added that there is also a need to take a clear and firm decision regarding films that have already been released, as well as animated films that are screened on large screens during Shaheedi congregations.

He further said that at several places, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee itself is showing the film Chaar Sahibzade in villages during congregations, and that this should be stopped immediately. He emphasized that the Sikh Panth supports the propagation and promotion of Gurbani and Sikh history; however, violating Khalsa traditions in the name of outreach and pushing Sikhs towards idol worship is completely wrong and should not be tolerated under any circumstances.
