Media reports suggest that a violent clash took place on 10 September 2025 inside Central Jail, Patiala, involving undertrial prisoner Sandeep Singh Sunny and convicted former police officials—Inspector Suba “Sirhind,” DSP Gurbachan, and Inspector Inderjit.

Notably, ex-Inspector Suba, who styled himself “Suba Sirhind”—a title historically linked to Wazir Khan of Sirhind, infamous for ordering the execution of the Chhote Sahibzade of Guru Gobind Singh—was convicted in a case of multiple murders stemming from a staged police encounter in which six members of a Sikh family were killed.

According to reports, Suba has been left “brain dead” following the attack. However, the truth remains unclear as no official statement has yet been issued.

To establish the facts, journalist Mandeep Singh spoke with Bhai Narien Singh Chaura, who is in touch with the family members of Sandeep Singh Sunny and is coordinating efforts for his legal assistance and representation.

It is important to note that Sandeep Singh Sunny is still an undertrial, while Suba and DSP Gurbachan are convicted prisoners. Under jail regulations, undertrials and convicts are to be kept strictly separate at all times. This raises serious questions: how were they housed together? Was it the result of negligence, or is there another, deeper reason behind this incident?
