Ropar, Punjab (March 20, 2014): It is learnt that Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara was yesterday (on March 19) presented before a local court in Ropar in a case related to attack on controversial self-styled godman Piara Singh Bhaniara. The court will hear this case on April 3, besides two other cases against Jagtar Singh Hawara.

Bhai Hawara, who was sentenced to imprisonment for life in Punjab CM Beant Singh’s assassination case, is currently lodged in Tihar Jail, Delhi.

He faces trial in the sessions court related to the bomb blast at Dhamana village near Baba Piara Singh Bhaniara’s dera.

Two other cases related to Bhai Hawara were committed to the district sessions court by Additional District and Sessions Judge Jatinder Kaur.

One of these cases pertains to an encounter on September 22, 1991. The police had booked Hawara under Section 307 of the IPC, and the Arms Act and the TADA. The other case concerns the death of an SPO in Shaheedi Jor Mela on December 23, 1998.
